Battlecry Studios is seeking a qualified Tools Engineer to help create and maintain production tools for an online title. The initial focus of the candidate will be the maintenance of art pipeline and level editor tools. As a tool engineer, the scope of the candidate’s responsibilities will extend to other game systems (including both server and client) as required. The successful candidate will understand how all data taken from artists and designers is compiled and used by both the client and server to make a great game. The candidate should also know the working pipelines of both artists and designers and ensure those pipelines are as streamlined and efficient as possible.
Key Responsibilities
Works with other engineers to architect, implement, and maintain a complete pipeline for data from tools into the game
Works closely with artists and designers to ensure pipelines are efficient and easy to use
Writes clear, maintainable, portable code
Accurately estimates his/her schedules and delivers high quality work products to that schedule
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
3+ years professional software development experience, with emphasis on tools
Expertise with C++ including the standard libraries
Expertise in building multithreaded, real-time systems
Experience writing systems for performance and reliability
Expertise with robust data handling
Expertise in Max or Maya plugins
Expertise with game editor plugins/modification
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
Recommended Skills
Experience with 3D graphics and animation systems
Experience with physics packages
Experience with Lua or other scripting languages
Experience with MFC
Experience with AI programming
Experience with Gameplay programming and level design
Game industry experience
