Position: Senior Software Engineer - PlanetSide 2
Location: San Diego, CA

SOE is looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to join their engineering team on Planetside 2. We are an award-winning Massively Multiplayer First Person Shooter which shipped in Fall of 2012 and continues to entertain millions of players, 24 hours a day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Software Engineers on the Planetside 2 team are responsible for a diverse number of systems, and can be called on to work on anything from physics and ballistic systems, to supporting our marketplace, to helping write tools which better support our designers and artists. There are literally hundreds of systems to maintain, providing an unending challenge to those wanting to expand their existing knowledge pool.

REQUIREMENTS:
- A BS degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience
- A minimum experience of 5 years in programming with C++ on both Windows and Unix
- Must thoroughly understand networking systems and client/server relationships
- Must have strong knowledge of multi-core processor programming and threading best practices
- Must be a “Fire and Forget” type worker, able to rapidly understand assignments and shepherd them to completion
- Accept and provide direction, work well under pressure and handle concurrent tasks
- Communicate with multiple external teams to accomplish common goals

PLUSES:
- Experience in API design
- Experience developing cross-platform code
- Experience shipping and maintaining shipped products
- Good understanding of software development processes
- Experience with XML, SQL, LUA, and C#
