Senior Lighting Artist


High Moon Studios seeks a highly skilled Senior Lighting Artist to create visually compelling and creative artwork for a high-profile franchised title. 


 


As a Senior Lighting Artist, you will report to the Art Director and work directly with the Art and Design teams, to produce prebaked, real-time, lighting and post production processing. Award winning next generation content is what we are looking for. If you enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment, and value well thought out processes and schedules then this role is for you.


The Senior Lighter is responsible for the design and creation of lighting, from concept to completion, and all associated lighting pipelines. Using the Radiant engine, Lighters combine artistic talent with technical ability, scripting lighting to guide the player through gameplay spaces and highlight key moments.  You must possess excellent organizational skills, and effective communication skills. As a Senior Lighter, you must have demonstrated exceptional artistic and technical skills while in a similar role on at least one AAA console game.


RESPONSIBILITIES
o Work with Level Designers, Environment Artists, and Team Leads to create lighting for all aspects of the game including cinematics.
o Creation of pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
o Managing lighting performance & frame rate via optimization tools.
o Solving technical issues that arise with new tools or game performance.


REQUIRED


o Understanding of composition and the ability to enhance mood by lighting.


o Excellent working knowledge of Maya and Photoshop.


o Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Artists and Programmers in a


large team environment.


o 5+  years of lighting experience on console hardware (360, PS3).
o Experience with and a good working knowledge of creating lighting within a pre-baked light-map pipeline.


PREFERRED
o Working knowledge of industry standard rendering programs such as Mental Ray or Renderman.


o Experience with Radiant.
o Ability to follow design reference and ability to work with a wide range of styles.
o Experience with one or more scripting/programming languages.
o Knowledge of color theory and strong sense of light and shadow.
