The Senior Software Engineer, Monkey Quest will be responsible for the design and implementation of client and server technologies for use in Monkey Quest. The ideal candidate will be a veteran in the video game industry with experience working on persistent multiplayer worlds.


Responsibilities:

Implement and own major gameplay features
Create benchmarks own the end-to-end process of optimizing and ensuring the performance of critical client and server infrastructure
Provide input and guidance on industry best practices
Work closely with other organizations in the company to educate staff and evaluate feature requirements, functionality, and implications
Mentor junior developers in best-practices and methodologies
Tracking down and squashing hard to find bugs

Qualifications:

Expert knowledge of at least two of the following languages/platforms: C++, Java, C#, Python
Proven experience working with and optimizing for video game related middleware and engines (Unity3d, fmod, Havok, UDK, Scaleform, Box2d, etc)
Deep understanding of how to implement gameplay features in a multiplayer environment
Experience designing and working with fault-tolerant systems
Experienced with client/server security methodologies. Knowledge of anti-cheat methodologies a plus
Comfortable writing and debugging parallel and multi-threaded systems
5+ years of software development experience with at least one shipped video game title
Must be a team player
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Pluses:

Experienced in low level diagnostics and debugging of games in both a development and live environment
Understanding of technologies and strategies for scalable gameplay features (thousands of users working together to complete the same quest or dungeon)
Proven ability to collaborate with client and server-side developers to achieve smooth feature roll outs and solid, maintainable, and testable applications end-to-end
Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments
Experience with Git, Subversion, or Perforce
Experience with agile methodologies and scrum
Passion for games
Adept with Nerf weaponry
