Software Engineer III – Game-play/AI Programmer – FIRAXIS GAMES



General Description:

This position is responsible for working within a team of programmers for a specific game development project. Reports to the project lead game-play programmer and is responsible for implementing game content including, but not limited to, AI, UI, level/scenario construction, asset integration and development tools.


Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain game-play code with a team of other developers
• Develop and enhance in-house libraries and tools


Specific Requirements:

• Previous experience architecting AI software systems
• Strong sense of game-play design and philosophy
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Fluency in C++
• Experience with AI scripting systems
• A great love of games


Required Skills:

• Understanding of game development lifecycle and process
• Willingness to work under and take direction from a team lead
• Ability to communicate with team members and management
• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks
• Proactive problem-solving approach, ideally with a strong sense of creativity and a respect for aesthetics
• Ability to lead more junior members of the programming team by example


Experience and Educational Requirements:

• 3-7 years experience in the game industry
• At least 1 shipped game title
• BS in CS, SE or equivalent
