We’re seeking an experienced leader for our asset services department. Working with stakeholders within the company, the asset services lead will create and implement a vision for preserving, and repurposing Blizzard Entertainment game development assets, and other significant material associated with the company. The ideal candidate will have experience in digital asset management, as well as, a broader interest and understanding of the cultural value of video games, and popular culture.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preservation, maintenance, and reuse of Blizzard Entertainment’s digital and physical development assets.
Work cooperatively with Blizzard Entertainment development teams to outline standards for digital preservation, and support their successful implementation.
Provide industry leadership, and stay on the forefront of developments in video game preservation.
Liaise between development and the teams who depend on their assets, such as licensing, marketing, and web.
Extend the visibility and impact of the Blizzard Entertainment brand by repurposing content outside the gaming industry, including museum exhibits and art galleries.
Build, and manage relationships with vendors, museums, art galleries, and other institutions.
Become an active spokesperson for Blizzard Entertainment's preservation strategies, including publishing articles, giving interviews, and speaking to large audiences.
Lead a cross-functional team of digital asset management, curatorial, archive, and library professionals.
Build business cases, establish and maintain a budget, and provide regular performance reports to management.
As a part of the creative development leadership team, contribute to the overall strategy, vision, and goals of the department.
Requirements
a minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital asset management, preferably in the entertainment industry
A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading and managing a high performing team of experienced professionals
Absolute passion for video gaming, with a background that is broad enough to view video games within a larger social, cultural, intellectual, and historical context
Pluses
Master’s degree in a related discipline
Experience working with international businesses, and other organizations
Passion for art, especially video game art
Knowledge of Blizzard Entertainment games and lore
Prior experience with Canto Cumulus
