BioWare Austin is seeking a qualified Client Software Engineer for the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ team. The Client Software Engineer works on a team maintaining and developing code for our game client, including work related to rendering, animation, memory, performance and stability systems. This position works with a Lead Engineer and assists them in adding new features and maintaining the SW:TOR client.
Key Responsibilities
Designs, develops, writes, tests and implements client systems code.
Works with designers, artists and other personnel involved in the development of products as required.
Writes clear, maintainable, portable code.
Develops technical design specifications and implementation.
Partners with Lead Engineer to implement client systems and refine as needed.
Tests and refines gameplay features throughout the development cycle of the project.
Accurately estimates his/her schedules with some oversight and delivers high quality work products to that schedule.
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred
3 or more years of professional game software development experience in building rendering, animation, input, or memory and performance tracking systems within games
Experience in graphics and/or real-time software development is required
Experience developing on the Win32 platform is required
Experience with modern and next-generation console platforms preferred
Experience with client-server networking concepts is preferred
Applicant must be able to identify and solve problems creatively without guidance
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required
Applicant must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
Time management and organizational skills are essential
Excellent attention to detail is required
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills strongly preferred
