Established San Diego video game developer/publisher is seeking a Director of Usability and Testing for our in-house usability and quality assurance labs.

We're looking for a self-motivated individual who is a quick learner and highly adaptable to a variety of work environments to create a boutique usability and testing laboratory in San Diego. This small lab will serve our internal needs and those of the independent game development community both in the U.S. and abroad..

Responsibilities:
Manage usability and quality assurance studio resources to meet production deadlines and budgets
Review existing processes and work to develop and implement new or improved methodologies where necessary.
Develop procedures to minimize employee overtime
Work with test leads to create, plan and implement QA test strategies.
Create usability and QA budgets for internal use and for external clients
Coordinate and schedule testers across multiple projects.
Generate detailed bug reports for clients and for internal use.
Review all bugs and reports before submitting to managers or clients
Work with staff and clients to design User Experience Playtests tailored to the clients’ needs.
Maintain and improve our customer service workflow

HR centric duties
Audit and approve payroll for contract, leased and internal full-time staff
Coordinate with staffing vendors to ensure staffing levels are met..
Create interview processes and standards for prospective leased and internal staff
Develop a training program for incoming personnel
Notify personnel of their separation from the Company when necessary.
Handle personnel issues and have the acumen to escalate issues when needed

Other responsibilities:
Write and conduct performance reviews for leased and internal staff
Create a current year department budget
Create a year end balance sheet
Maintain project schedules for multiple projects
Schedule staff in coordination with other senior team members for trade show staffing
Act as liaison between testing team and outside elements to avoid communication problems
