Harmonix is seeking an experienced special effects guru to join its world-class environment team.

Responsibilities:

Bring environments to life with awe-inspiring special effects
Work closely with the Art, Engineering and Design teams to contribute to the unique and exciting graphical look of the game
Master and aid in the development of the Harmonix custom toolset
Work with Coders to create shaders
Research, learn and disseminate new tech and production techniques
Keep up with the latest work in games and film
Represent and promote art direction through collaboration with Engineering and Design
Project management; keep project scope and schedule in harmony to avoid stress for the team

Qualifications:

Professional experience in Special Effects
3 years games industry experience
BFA from accredited Art or Design college
3D modeling and texturing skills including normal and specular maps, a plus
Basic animation skills, a plus
Extensive experience with 3DS Max or equivalent 3D program, Zbrush or equivalent normal map program, Photoshop
Love of arcade and video games
Outstanding conceptual art ability
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and superior people skills to work in a creative and positive manner with the team
Ability and willingness to create games that do not follow traditional game-art styles
A love of music and an openness to new music
