SUMMARY OF POSITION

WB Games Inc. seeks a Senior Artist for the Monolith Development department. A Senior World Artist is responsible for creating exceptional 3D game assets. This person will work closely with the Lead World Artist and Art Director to ensure aesthetics quality and continuity is kept at the highest-bar throughout the product. This person will be well versed in the game engine and art tools and will help more junior artists ramp up their skills. A Senior Artist is also expected to have strong communications skills and be able to convey and assist in maintaining vision throughout their team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Create clean, high quality 3D assets including architecture, props, vehicles and organics that hold to the Art direction and style of the product.

  • Support design in creating high end, quality visual content to promote game-play.

  • To mentor and train more junior level artists and assist in documentation of best practices.

  • Ensure that technical constraints established by the Technical Art Director and Lead Artist is maintained by themselves and their team.

  • To report daily to the Lead Artist with progress as well as participate in peer review.


  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BA in art or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Contributed to 1+ shipped titles.

  • 5+ years experience in the industry.

  • At least 1 published games preferably Xbox 360 or PS3.

  • Proven excellence in artistic judgment and skill.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate verbally as well as visually.

  • At least 5+ years experience with Photoshop.

  • At least 5+ years experience with industry standard 3-D package (Maya, Max, SoftImage).

  • Strong high resolution/low resolution modeling and texturing skills for normal map creation.

  • Solid understanding of shaders and material expressions.

  • Solid experience and understanding of art pipelines on Xbox 360 and/or PS3, and an interest in finding ways to evolve and improve the environmental art creation pipeline.

  • Ability to adapt to new technology.

  • Solid organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions and other established protocols.

  • Solid understanding of architecture.

  • Solid organization skills with adherence to optimization and asset management.

  • Solid understanding of form, shape, structure and silhouette.

  • Excellent ability to self-manage and meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to accept direction and provide guidance to coworkers.

  • Ability to collaborate productively with others and embrace change.

  • Must have an active, passionate interest in current video games.

  • Portfolio/website demonstrating your art skills, design sensibilities, and attention to detail.
