Best Boy is offering an outstanding opportunity for a Game Designer to join the team of Atlantic Canada’s fastest-growing entertainment company.

We are seeking a talented, creative individual to be responsible for gameplay mechanics, level concept, layout, implementation, prototype modeling, scenario creation, and event scripting, from initial concept through ship date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain core gameplay mechanics, content guidelines, game flow, level concept, layout, implementation, prototype modeling, scenario creation, event scripting, from initial concept through ship date

  • Create, own, maintain, and update design documentation, including GDDs and other related documentation necessary for development

Experience Requiredtop

Requirements:
  • 1+ years’ design experience
  • 1 or more shipped game titles, preferably social / casual
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Experience with digital platforms such as iOS and Android
  • Broad knowledge of game design / game mechanics / game balancing concepts and techniques
  • Ability to create composition of story and game-flow
  • Experience and/or familiarity with the casual and social game market
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities and solve problems
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing, fast-paced creative environment
  • Ability to take and apply direction
  • Ability to work independently, and in a collaborative environment

Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Unity
  • Familiarity with Perforce
  • Familiarity with educational games
  • Previous experience working in 3D environments
  • Experience with development pipelines, story creation, and basic art skills (in terms of design concepts and game flow charts)
