Primary Functions
The Platform Manager will work with multiple internal teams (marketing, data analysts, community) as well as game development studios (both internal and external) to gather requirements and define the roadmap for platform and backend systems for SEGA’s online games. The Platform Manager will work with the platform development team and ensure timely development and requirements are met. The ideal candidate has experience using development toolsets & SDKs, and has experience with gaming platforms. This person must possess excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of product development and strong project management skills. This position is accountable for platform development as specified by the VP of Digital and Director of Online.

Responsibilities

• Gathers platform requirements from internal & external development studios, as well as internal Sega departments
• Coordinates with Sega Japan to ensure cross-division compatibility and integration
• Define roadmap and requirements for platform development, to be performed by Platform Development Team
• Ensure that Platform Development Team develops as to spec, on time, and is cost effective
• Evangelize platform and SDK to all internal Sega studios, and any external Sega partners
• Ensure that developer support information (wiki, forums, etc.,) are provided and properly maintained
• Be the first line of contact for internal and external development studios concerning the SDK and related API’s
• Review third party technologies and applications to determine enhancement or supplementation of Sega Platform
• Coordinates with QA to ensure that Platform releases have been properly tested prior to release
• Ensures that platform development team follows development best practices, including proper code commenting, source control, and build management
• Communicates schedules, objectives, status and progress of all releases to management and the team
• Establishes processes and standards to make releases more efficient, effective and bug-free
• Identifies potential problems early, and contributes to solving those problems in a timely manner
• Works with the Platform Dev Team to create comprehensive release notes and other release-related communications, including maintaining email distribution
Qualifications
• University degree or graduate of a recognized post-secondary program in project management or development, or related discipline preferred
• 5-7 years work experience with online entertainment products or video games, 3-5 years in production, development or design specifically.
• Service-based online games experience (mobile, social, MMO), particularly in F2P
• Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
• Proven success in collaborating with a multi-disciplinary teams in achieving established objectives
• Self-starter with superior time management, project management and organizational skills
• Strong passion for games, creating fun, compelling user experiences
• Ability to gather requirements from multiple sources, and create a development roadmap
• Outstanding written/oral, organizational, and attention to detail
• Experience with software development environments, SDK’s and various production methodologies
• Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences on a broad range of topics: technical, business and creative
