GAME/LEVEL DESIGNER




Designer Duties:




•   Ability to conceptualize, communicate and implement game ideas using various tools and technology

•   Design levels in 2D, build out 3D roughs in engine (or with Maya) and work with artists to ensure that the levels are built to spec

•   Create any drawings, diagrams and flowcharts necessary to communicate and document design functionality and vision

•   Prototype designed elements or oversee prototype by other team members

•   Demonstrable success in creating compelling game play, scenarios, activities, and encounters

•   Evolve and iterate the designs with programmers and animators

•   Coordinate with the production group to maintain a consistent rate of output, schedule tasks and estimate time costs associated with deliverables

•   Ensure features and assets are implemented correctly and are up to FBI’s high quality standards by communicating regularly with team

•   Frequently play levels, and review all features and game mechanics for fun factor Provide feedback and suggest necessary design changes

•   Integrate feedback from Clients, design lead, focus tests and the QA group

•   Document finished designs on intranet wiki



Qualifications:



•   Has shipped a console or mobile action game as a designer

•   Experience with creating accessible game mechanics and game systems

•   Motivated and passionate about games

•   Good communication and presentation skills

•   Excellent and vast knowledge of latest games

•   Excellent written and spoken English

•   Knowledge of 3D software packages

•   Intermediate experience with level editing tools

•   Experience with a form of scripting or programming language (text based or visual)

•   Very strong creative and problem solving skills

•   Ability to learn new software tools and technologies

•   Ability to work in a team setting, under deadlines and time constraint

•   Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience



Bonus Points:

•   Experience or knowledge of major 3D Game Editors and 3D modeling programs

•   Art and scripting experience a plus

•   An avid gamer with strong interest in pushing the industry forward creatively

•   Knowledge of game design theory/practice of pacing and mission flow

•   Designers with artistic or programming background

•   Candidates in the Seattle Area

•   Self-motivated people who have worked hard to create their own projects
