The Senior Director of Development executes the developmental strategy of the studio in accordance with the GM and THQ’s strategic and tactical objectives. Responsible for ensuring project development achieves operating objectives and financial goals; ensuring development efficiency and product timeliness, and otherwise ensuring consistency and process improvements across projects.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the studio General Manager, the Senior Director of Development plans and executes the studio’s project strategy in the following areas: • Ensuring efficient development schedules and on-time delivery of product • Continually improving studio and development processes and practices • Financial planning and spending oversight • Direction of production personnel • Working with Human Resources and Recruiting to ensure optimal hiring practices • Collaborating with Project Management in Agoura to achieve project goals • Generating and getting approval of the operational plan, both near and long term • Ultimately, be responsible for execution of the operational plan with clearly measurable goals and reporting of progress
Requirements: • Demonstrated production leadership through numerous product cycles, including multi-sku projects, on console and PC, including all current and next generation hardware • Expert knowledge of project development techniques, including agile development • Expert proficiency in written and verbal English • Extensive knowledge of game industry trends in game design, hardware, software, and production practices • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple direct reports, who also manage projects • Excellent planning and risk mitigation skills • Ability to motivate teams and evangelize initiatives • Broad technical skills • Guru with MS Office suite and similar productivity tools • 10+ Years of game production experience • 5+ Years of project management or development direction experience • Bachelor’s degree in computing, art, design, or related fields
