Summary:

Surreal Software, a division of WB Games Inc., has a new opportunity for a smart and experienced senior engine programmer who will focus on core engine development and optimization for our current and future open world game titles. Our current title is “This is Vegas” – a humorous twist on the open world genre with an incredible cast of characters! This open world technology-base will be used for other future game titles on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. As a senior member of our Advanced Technology Group, this engineer will own and drive key cross-platform engine-level systems, examples of which include: streaming, graphics, animation, physics, and various other low-level systems.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and optimize engine systems that meet all design, visual, technical and schedule requirements.

  • Thoroughly test and coordinate with QA and other departments to ensure successful deployment of new features and code changes to the team.

  • Develop technical plans and tasks for owned systems, working with the Engineering Leads, Director of Engineering, and other department stakeholders.

  • Mentor and guide non-senior members of the Engineering team.



    Work Experience:

  • Prior experience working in the game industry or similar required.

  • Experience developing for either Xbox360 or PS3 (preferably both).

  • 5+ years experience with C/C++.



    Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:

  • B.S. degree in CS/CSE/EE/Math/Physics or equivalent work experience.



    Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience making low-level optimizations.

  • Experience with memory management, multi-threading, cross-platform development.

  • Working knowledge of 3D math.

  • Experience architecting and debugging large robust systems.

  • Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.

  • Excellent Perforce skills or similar source control system.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

  • Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver.

  • Strong code architecture and design skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and content creators in an open, team environment.
