Summary:

Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Sr. Software Engineer, Network to work closely with the award winning game team behind the F.E.A.R.™ and No One Lives Forever™ franchises building great technology and powering the development of Monolith’s next generation of console and PC games.


As a Senior Engine Networking you will work closely with the Lead Engineer and the rest of your peers to develop state-of-the-art networking technology for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC. Your domain will cover the networking components of the engine and your responsibilities will include both optimizations of current-gen systems and design and implementation of pivotal new technology.


In addition, as part of Monolith’s highly collaborative engineering group, you will have ample opportunity to share your experience and expertise on the development of engineering systems across the entire codebase. Opportunities for involvement in the creative process will also present themselves regularly throughout the course of each project.


This job will require close collaboration with the Lead Engineer on issues of technical design and the Game Engineers as appropriate during implementation and roll-out of new features.


The Senior Engine Networking will also work with the Lead Engineer to help develop realistic schedules and identify all dependencies.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust and highly optimized systems that meet all design and schedule requirements.

  • Collaborate with the appropriate developers during requirements gathering and work closely with the Lead Engineer on technical designs.

  • Collaborate with Lead Engineer and Game Engineers to identify systems in need of optimization or replacement and on proposals of exciting new networking technologies.

  • Work closely with the Lead Engineer in building realistic schedules and identifying all dependencies.

  • Coordinate with QA and the Lead Engineer to ensure successful roll out of new features to the team(s).



    Work Experience:

  • 5+ years professional C/C++ programming.

  • Experience developing for either Xbox360 or PS3 (preferably both).

  • Worked on AAA game title from concept to ship (preferred).

  • Experience developing FPS games (preferred).

  • Experience with networking technologies.

  • Experience with creating title servers for content and stats (preferred).



    Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:

  • B.S. degree in CS/EE/Math/Physics.



    Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience making low-level optimizations.

  • Experience with memory management, multi-threading, cross-platform development and a working knowledge of 3D math.

  • Experience architecting large robust systems.

  • Microsoft Visual C++ development environment.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and content creators to develop robust, maintainable, cutting-edge technology.

  • Ability to openly discuss and review technical proposals, requirements, designs, algorithms, source code, and reference documents with engineers, content creators and managers.

  • Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver with excellent debugging and strong communications skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team development environment.

  • Strong desire to build industry-leading technology.
