Vigil Games is currently seeking an experienced Senior Game Designer with extensive game development writing experience to work on the Warhammer 40K MMO.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with departmental leads and design team to develop core concepts and game content. Able to take full design responsibility for multiple areas of the game, and cooperatively work with the artists and programmers to see your vision implemented through to completion. You will participate in creating and maintaining the overall vision of the game, but must have the ability to design, evaluate, tweak and balance the fine details on a day-to-day basis. Provide feedback to the mission designers for superior game-play levels, objectives and experiences. Balance and adjust game-play experiences to ensure the product’s critical and commercial success. Conceptualize, create and maintain detailed game design documentation throughout the project cycle. Coordinating with QA and providing test specifications. Remain current on industry trends and techniques in game design.
Qualifications: Previous game dev writing experience required. Avid tabletop and/or pen-and-paper RPG experience is a plus. Strong research skills necessary. Experience with scripting editors or visual script editors is a big plus. An avid gamer, especially in the MMO genre, with strong interest in pushing the industry forward creatively. Demonstrable success in creating compelling (fun, commercially viable, and critically-acclaimed) game-play, scenarios, activities, and encounters. A mature, professional attitude and work ethic. You need to be able to champion your ideas, yet accept and value the ideas of others. Intense creativity and a passion to innovate, going beyond what is directly asked of you. Writing ability: creative writing, document writing, dialogue writing. Previous level design experience is a plus. Thorough understanding of video games and their commercial appeal to the public. Strong organizational skills: ability to keep track of minute details as well as the big picture while multitasking. Extensive knowledge of games both past and present.
