BioWare Austin is looking for Gameplay Programmers for our Austin team. Both full-time and contract positions are available. The successful candidates will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities • Designs, develops, writes, tests and implements game system code and authoring tools. • Works with designers, artists and other personnel involved in the development of products as required. • Writes clear, maintainable, portable code. • Development of technical design specifications and implementation. • Contributes ideas towards game production and development. • Partner with Lead Programmer to implement gameplay systems and refine as needed. • Test and refine gameplay features throughout the development cycle of the project. • Accurately estimates his/her schedules with some oversight and delivers high quality work products to that schedule.
Skills/Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred • 3 or more years of professional game software development experience in building gameplay systems within games • Expertise in C++ and object oriented design principles • Comfortable working within an existing code base • Experience with large client/server projects • Able to identify and solve problems creatively with some guidance • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills • Passion for playing video games
