Summary:

Web designers work with the Community team to design and create the visual look and feel of our community support sites, including studio and product web pages, forums, wikis, and leaderboards. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of web skills, a strong understanding of social networks/online communities, and a passion for art.



Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain community web pages and associated applications. This will include collaborating with community managers, web developers, and writers.

  • Develop a visually and functionally consistent online user-experience. Identify and meet design needs of the community and development teams.

  • Work with development team artists to create visual assets in the style appropriate for the intellectual property.

  • Provide assets for use by outside vendors and community fan sites.

  • Work with the product development teams and creative licensor directors to determine appropriate and consistent artistic style

  • Work with community manager and executive producer on scheduling, tasks, dependencies. Attend meetings for planning, and updates.



    Work Experience

  • 3 - 6 years of website design experience.

  • Significant experience with the web/design project life cycle.

  • Past experience designing internet-based web sites using licensed property.

  • Hands-on experience with social networks and community websites.



    Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification


  • B.A. degree in Fine Arts, Design, or Communications



    Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong understanding of the artistic and functional design of web sites

  • In-depth knowledge of several of the following with an emphasis on web design and technologies:

    - Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver/Homesite

    - Microsoft PowerPoint

    - Web color theory

    - Typography (screen media)

    - Coding to meet web standards (XHTML & CSS)

    - Thorough knowledge of HTML, CSS, Flash & ActionScript



    Other Requirements


  • Strong brainstorming skills.

  • Able to receive creative and artistic direction

  • Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.

  • Familiarity with social networking sites.

  • Online game community experience a plus.
