Job Description:
The Lead Artist for External Projects will work closely with select external studios to provide art direction on Harmonix titles. All of our titles are meticulously crafted to reflect our vision and high standards. In addition to being an accomplished artist, this individual should have experience with managing projects in a game development environment, and have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. This individual should love music and have an open-minded approach to all music styles and genres.
This position also offers potential for future leadership on internal projects.
Responsibilities:
- Embrace and adopt Harmonix’s art direction and game development philosophy and methodology
- Provide and oversee art direction for multiple external studios
- Develop and maintain good relationships with external teams
- Work closely with team leads to keep game milestone deliverables on time
- Provide inspiring art direction for projects on various game platforms
Desired qualifications:
- 5+ years game industry experience
- At least one shipped AAA title
- Proven leadership / project management experience
- Demonstrated concept art and drawing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in 3DS Max or equivalent 3D application
- Bachelor’s degree (BFA from an accredited art school strongly preferred)
- Experience managing remote teams a plus
- Eagerness to create games that do not follow traditional game-art styles
Sample Work Required:
- An online portfolio that is kept up to date is preferred over hard copy or DVD
- Please include an explanation of your work: what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.
