Volition, the THQ studio that created the Saints Row and Red Faction series, is seeking an Audio Designer to help bring our games to life.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and polish original audio content in accordance with the project's design goals, style, and vision. • Complete project requirements at a high level of quality and productivity. • Keep track of internal asset lists and outsourced material relevant to assigned tasks. • Keep leads and managers advised of progress on scheduled tasks, potential improvements to processes and problems or inefficiencies encountered. • Stay current on trends in game audio design, with an eye for innovation.
Qualifications:
• Ability to create original sound effects, record supplemental material, and refine mixes using game assets. • Experience implementing audio into games and an understanding of typical game audio pipelines. • High level of proficiency with professional audio software and hardware. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new internal and external technology. • Ability to take direction, collaborate openly, and meet deadlines through efficient work habits. • Passion for games and ability to articulate that passion clearly and analytically from an audio perspective. A broad knowledge base of console and PC games. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • College degree or equivalent experience.
Pluses:
• 2+ years of professional game industry experience in a sound design role • 1+ complete game production cycle in a sound design role • Strong music composition skills. • Knowledge of other areas in game development (programming, level design, etc.) • Experience with field recording and building original sound effects libraries. • Experience working with Wwise, FMOD, and other audio middleware tools.
Sample Work Required:
• Submit samples of your sound design set to video, preferably game footage. Include a written description of each sample, identifying in detail your contribution and process. This is a full-time, on-site position. Qualified candidate must be willing to relocate to Champaign, IL.
