Blow stuff up! Make stuff all glowy! Make the mundane cool! Just make awesome! That's what being an Effects Artist is all about, right? It is here! We are looking for a professional Particle Effects artist to bring our crazy visions of magic to life. The Effects Artist candidate will use our proprietary software to create both particle and mesh-based effects, post effects, atmospheric and environmental effects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Art Director and other leads to create high quality special effects
Create, design and implement real-time particle effects using both static and animated 2d/3d elements
Create high-quality sprites and meshes to enhance effects
Paint particle and decal textures
Prototype effects and concepts for gameplay and engine
Help guide futher development of internal effects editing tools
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
At least three years of experience in the game industry
Shipped at least one title as an FX artist
Understanding of basic animation techniques such as anticipation, action/reaction, etc.
Proficient in Photoshop for painting and editing textures
Working knowledge of 3dsMax
Strong grasp of color theory as well as understanding of shape and form
Knowledge of Shader Language, HLSL, OpenGL, CGFX or equivalent - a plus
Knowledge of other visual effects software or shader systems such as Unreal- a plus.
A BFA from an accredited school or equivalent experience
