Sr. Environment Artist/Worldbuilder | Propaganda Games  | Vancouver BC CAN | Full Time
Job Description:
We are looking for a World Class Environment Artist / world Builder to join the team!

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create game levels from initial block-out through to final quality assets, building 3D models, or use existing assets
• Collaborate with level designers and cross-discipline teams, to create visually rich level compositions that fulfill both aesthetic and game-play requirements, whilst adhering to technical constraints
• UV map existing textures, or create new ones, to construct the primary surfaces and terrain for complex levels
• Closely follow concept designs and art direction
• Actively participate in driving the quality bar
• Set and balance budgets per level, communicating these clearly to asset modelers
• Guide and mentor asset modelers, acting as a role model to ensure consistency of style, quality, and use of best practices
• Participate in daily critiques and review World Building content, providing status updates to Art Director and Art Production Manager
• Review and discuss Game Design and Engineering elements as pertinent to World Building creation to manage risks and note dependencies

Requirements:

• Experience constructing and assembling complex levels in a production environment, including a proven understanding of available techniques, and how and when to use them
• Exceptional compositional skills with particular emphasis on exterior scenes
• Understanding of visual pacing to create contrasting locations and visual moments within the game levels
• Comfortable using level editors to preview and create scenes on target platforms
• Understanding of lighting and how to build geometry and textures to maximize its effectiveness
• Strong texture creation and UV mapping skills, with a strong understanding of texture sharing, and methods of surfacing
• Proven understanding of budgets, technical constraints, and effective ways of maximizing efficiency within a scene
• Experience working on an open world or streamed game is an advantage

Skills:

• Minimum of 4 years production experience with 2 or more completed development cycles – at least 1 being for a next-gen platform
• Demonstrates strength and experience working within the Action genre and/or level based games
• Exceptional communication, and organization skills
• Expert knowledge of hardware and software industry trends
• Personal commitment to excel as a team player, and a commitment to strive for maximum team/department performance
• Self-directed, highly organized, meticulous and detail-oriented problem solver with a burning desire to contribute to a uniquely creative environment.
