Orange County, California, is known for its excellent year-round weather, as well as its sandy beaches and gorgeous sunsets. With an average daily temperature of 70 degrees, an average summer temperature of only 79 degrees, the warm sun, and the cool breeze off the Pacific Ocean, you just can’t beat the weather. Orange County has 42 miles of shoreline, 800 miles of on- and off-road bikeways, as well as internationally acclaimed performing arts centers, making Aliso Viejo an ideal place to live and work.
Carbine Studios, a software development company focused on making high-quality, cutting-edge, and conceptually innovative Massively Multiplayer Games, is looking for an exterminator with the ability to lead a squad on a covert bug hunting assignment.
A “Quality Assurance Lead” is just the title you will receive (for a clean civilian perception). However, the experience of exterminating all bugs from our imaginary world is the event you’ll be famous for.
Within the first month you will be assigned the following goals. Keep in mind that failure is not an option as our world is at stake.
• Assemble a team of the best… • Training new recruits. They don’t live forever unless you’re not trying hard enough. You should plan on teaching your squad the basics of bug hunting. In addition, your trainees will need to master technical writing and hand to keyboard combat. • You’ll need to build a mountain of testing documentation that can be used to distract the brains in development, thus allowing you to “do your damn job.” • Identifying resource needs. Troops are no good to you in the field without weapons and you’re no good to us without troops. Make sure you plan your operations effectively with the resources you have, and beg for reinforcements when the time is right. • Social skills, yes we said it. You’ll need to make friends in high places in case you find yourself in a pinch. Relationships = Airstrikes. • Problem solving and managing priorities under fire. The bugs don’t sleep, why should you? You’ll need to work with the developers and weed through a field of buzzwords to get the truth regarding attack dates. • Learn the reporting structure and hierarchy of the suits so that you may master how to best word an “I need reinforcements” request. Preferably without sounding like you’ve already lost. • Crash land on a world where the bugs have overrun the sector. You’ll be expected to live, or not. *shrug*
We’d expect all “QA management” candidates to have at least 2 years leading a team of testers to glory! You’ll also need to be real comfortable managing a bug database. We have to track the bugs or things get real dicey in the field. Be aware that you’ll be tested daily on the subjects of computer hardware, operating systems, entomology and arachnid pressure points. Lastly, plan on using your strong background in software testing to best utilize the bug locator client. The brains running this campaign get it wrong sometimes, and we need you to call it like you see it.
We’ll provide loot drops, and even grant buffs such as medical, dental and vision insurance. If you act now, we’ll throw in tuition reimbursement as another reason to give us a hand finding the entrenched bugs we may have missed. Hurry! Before it’s too late!
