| Lead Animator If you enlisted the help of all the neighborhood kids to help you build sets for you 5th-grade claymation project, managed to not throw a tantrum when little Henry Gillmore fell off his skateboard onto the shoebox containing all your finished clay characters and, in the end, pulled out all the stops to make the best animated clay monster flick your class had ever seen, you might be on the right track for a position at 2K Games. 2K Games is looking for a Lead Animator. The initial responsibilities of our Lead Animator will be collaborating with the Art Director, Creative Director, Lead Artist and concept team to define the overall creative vision of our project. Ongoing responsibilities include: defining the standards and practices of animation for a next-gen console title, operationally managing a team of in-house animators and storyboard artists, managing deliverables and quality-control for outsourced animation, and communication with the Project Lead, Art Director and Creative Director to ensure the highest possible standards of production. Job Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Art Director and Creative Director in creation of the overall artistic vision of a next-gen console game • Set artistic and technical practices for the entire animation department • Manage the day-to-day operations of the animation departments • Deliver content on schedule and within technical limitations • Work with Programming and Design to ensure animations properly mate with AI requirements • Help define animation tools and technical systems necessary to complete projects Required Skills • Highly experienced character animator • Technical experience with FK and IK skeletal systems • Mesh skinning/vertex weighting experience • Ability to manage in-house team of animators and storyboard artists • Ability to develop plans and appropriate direction for outsourced production • Experience with motion-captured animation data • Ability to take direction well • Able to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process • Self-Motivated towards solving creative problems • Able to communicate with other artists visually using quick thumbnail sketches or paintings Extra Credit • Experience with the Unreal Engine • Fine Art background • 2D Animation experience ABOUT 2K GAMES 2K Games develops and publishes top-line PC, console, and handheld entertainment software with a strong concentration in three distinct categories: sports, high profile licenses and specialty product.
