| Big Huge Games, developer of the award-winning real-time strategy games Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends, is expanding into a multi-team, multi-genre company. We're looking for an experienced, exceptionally knowledgeable, talented, and motivated Concept Artist to contribute to our upcoming Wii title (trust us, while it’s yet-to-be-publicly announced it’s gonna be an incredibly fun and quirky title that’ll be a concept artist’s dream). The Big Huge creative team has been bestowed with Gamespy’s 2006 Special Achievement in Art Direction Award and critics have commended Rise of Legends as “A playable piece of art…” (Game Revolution), and “…the best looking RTS I’ve ever played” (PC Gamer). We would prefer having a fulltime position filled, contract is acceptable but relocating to our offices here in Timonium, MD (15 minutes north of Baltimore) would be required in either case. Relocation assistance for fulltime hires is standard. Job Purpose and Responsibilities: The Concept Artist will work closely with the Art Director and project Leads from project inception to finish and will play a major role in establishing and maintaining the look of the project. Responsibilities include: • Game idea conceptualization/visual prototyping • Environment development • Character development • UI concepts (this may also include UI support such as icons, wrapper screens, etc…) • Matte paintings • Storyboards • Marketing/pitch illustration work Qualifications: • Show examples of quality, high resolution concept artwork in digital format • Have excellent fundamental illustration skills such as composition, perspective and color theory. • Able to create accurate, detailed, and compelling images based on written descriptions or direction • Have excellent illustrative skills, with the ability to create both highly imaginative and realistic characters in a variety of styles • Have excellent environmental design skills, with the ability to create environments in a variety of styles • Have a great sense of varying illustrative aesthetics • Have an understanding of game art techniques and the graphics capabilities of the Wii Desired Skills: • Strong color sense and sense of style • A good understanding of the Nintendo aesthetic • Ability to create concept art that communicates fundamental game design principles. • Motivated to work beyond direction and help shape the game itself • Professional or published concept work is a plus Contact Info: Big Huge's preferred method of viewing your artwork and resume is by email submission of your portfolio website link to greatartjob@bighugegames.com.
