Senior Generalist Engineer
Bluepoint Games, Inc. | Austin TX 78746 USA | Full Time, Contract | Posted: 01/23/2013
The team has remastered classic PS2 games in high definition for the PS3 and Xbox 360 (Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, God of War Collection, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection), shipped original titles (Blast Factor, the first available downloadable game on the PlayStation Network), and developed its own proprietary game engine (Bluepoint Engine).
Our most recently-completed project is the PS Vita version of PlayStation® All-Stars Battle Royale™, which used our Bluepoint Engine for both the PS Vita and PlayStation3 SKUs.. The company is located in Austin, TX.
Bluepoint is looking for a senior generalist engineer with an unrelenting interest in solving hard problems in all aspects of game development. You will be working as part of a team developing titles for major current- and next-gen consoles.
You may qualify if you:
-- Know the rules, know why they exist and when (and when not) to break them
-- Are fluent in more computing languages than human languages
-- Can wring the last drop of performance out of any CPU, GPU or SPU
-- Have shipped more games than you have owned cars
-- Know that "writing" the multithreaded code is the easy part
-- Avoid unnecessary use of inheritance, templates and operator overloading
-- Rarely, if ever, break the build
-- Can write fifty lines of code and it compiles the first time (and very nearly works too)
-- Have a fairly accurate sense as to when a debugger is lying to you
-- Believe that data is just code too
-- Have messed with so much different code, you can only consider yourself a "generalist"
-- Are that go-to person other programmers come to with their questions
