Remedy Entertainment | Espoo Uusimaa 02200 FIN | Full Time, Project/Temporary | Posted: 02/07/2013
Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Max Payne® and Alan Wake®, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world is looking for an AI Programmer to help realize our vision for the next blockbuster on future generation consoles.
We want your help in taking our artificial intelligence, character & enemy behavior to the next level. You’d be working in close co-operation with our game designers and programmers. You will be working on the next iteration of Remedy’s in-house engine that was previously used in Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.
What are we looking for?
When we decide who gets the job, we’ll put emphasis on the following criteria.
-Solid C++ skills. That’s the tool for this trade, so you should be comfortable with it and know your way around objects, templates, exceptions and common performance pitfalls.
-AI experience. You know what makes good & fun AI for games. You have worked on, for example, path finding, obstacle avoidance, decision making, group behavior or planning.
-3D Math skills. Linear algebra, vectors & matrices don’t intimidate you. Maybe you’ve written an awesome math library?
-Basic game development experience. You’ve worked in game projects as an AI programmer, either on your spare time or commercially.
-Fluent in English. We’re a multinational organization, and expect you to be able to communicate efficiently with rest of the team in English.
-Team player. You thrive in a team, bouncing ideas back and forth and getting inspired by what others are doing. You’re truly at home in a cross-discipline environment, and even game designers with their odd requirements don’t freak you out.
-You live for games. Even though you dedicate the best part of your day to game development, you still find the time to play them and follow the industry on your spare time.
We’ll throw in some bonus points if you have:
-Experience with AI middleware; perhaps you’ve integrated one to your engine at some point?
-Worked on AI in game projects, and you understand how AI needs to co-operate with animation, gameplay etc.
Not too much to ask, right? Piece of cake, one might say. So go ahead and apply, we’d love to hear from you!
So what’s in it for you then?
We offer you a chance to do something new and unique. Working as a member of our talented and experienced team with our world-class game technology means you have an excellent opportunity to develop yourself and take your career to new heights. We work hard but we also value a sane work-life balance, and we’re committed to providing our team a relaxed working environment. Naturally there’s a competitive compensation package with health care & insurance waiting for you, and should you be moving from abroad we’re there for you every step of the way.
The Remedy offices are situated in Espoo, Finland and relocation to the greater Helsinki area will be required. This can be a permanent or fixed term position. To apply, please fill in the application form with your CV and other information relevant to the position. Note that we’ll fill the position as soon as we find the right candidate, so be quick!
