Spark Unlimited is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Technical Director to lead our mobile game technology efforts from pre-production through project completion. You will become part of a core team that is agile, fast paced, and honed for adaptability and fast content creation in a mobile environment. As Technical Director, you must own the quality and goals of the engineering team and lead the team to accomplish their goals and come up with solutions that work within a tight development schedule. The ideal candidate is an outstanding engineer with thorough knowledge of engineering principles and pipelines, possessing strong leadership skills, production-sensibilities, and the talent and passion for mobile games to produce and implement the highest quality work.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with the development team leaders to develop engineering goals and features that fulfill the requirements of the project’s game and visual design. Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development.
• Lead and execute the engineering efforts to accomplish fun, engaging and high quality gameplay features. Drive the team to consistently meet project deadlines in a timely manner without compromising the integrity of the game.
• Work collaboratively with all levels of the development team in a closely knit team environment. Cultivate a positive team dynamic, and exhibit a professional attitude by demonstrating a good balance between creativity and practical flexibility.
• Write well architected and robust code in a game development environment.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining systems for touch based player mechanics/controls, single player & multiplayer gameplay, sophisticated UI, player metrics, and in app purchases.
• Develop and maintain network ready code to ensure that it meets multiplayer functionality and requirements: client/server state replications, latency, and synchronization over wi-fi and 3g/4g networks.
• Maintain code performance through profiling and optimization.
• Ensure that the game vision is optimally executed.
Requirements
• Experience in Game Development environments.
• Fluency in C, C++, C#, or Objective C.
• Solid IOS Development Skills.
• Ability to participate in gameplay design and implement design specifications.
• Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver with excellent debugging and strong communications skills.
• Highly collaborative approach to development with a willingness to assist in all areas.
• Advanced knowledge of code development software.
• Knowledge of client/server multi-player architecture.
• Excellent communication, time-management and organizational skills. A strong ability to work across multiple disciplines to gather feedback and address cross-functional issues. Penchant for practical innovation and the ability to bring new ideas to the table.
• Passionate player of mobile games with an ability to analyze competitive products for their strengths and weaknesses. Broad knowledge of titles and mechanics.

• OpenGL / GLSL Shader Experience.
• Shipped an IOS title.
• Experience with Xcode and IOS publishing.
