Software Engineer - Progressive Systems - Las Vegas, NV

The Software Engineer will be responsible for participating in gaming software application development, to include developing gaming signage applications, GUI on Linux platform, and distributed application development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate custom software development and team participation.
- Plan, create, test, deploy, administer, and document custom software and integrate existing software to meet business needs.
- Identify solutions, propose enhancements, and correct problems with existing custom software applications.
- Ensure all custom applications are hardened against malicious data or intentions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, describing custom applications which are constructed internally.
- Maintain excellent communication with team members on all tasks and projects.
- Responsible for staying abreast of best practices both internally and externally.
- Perform other assignments (or duties) as required.
Required Job Skills:
- Strong knowledge of software development principles with the ability to use standard development tools to construct and troubleshoot software systems.
- Possess a comfort level with code reviews and have the ability to explain programming decisions through reason and logic.
- Strong knowledge of C++ and application development on Linux platform.
- Experience with GUI development on Linux platform.
- Experience with 2D/3D real-time graphics application development using Open GL or DirectX or Unity 3D.
- Familiarity with StarTeam, Subversion, or other software version control system.
- Possess strong understanding of network communication.
- Ability to work as a technical professional in a high-pressure environment.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to be flexible to a changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary.
Certification, Education and Experience:
Certification:
- Gaming card, and or the ability to obtain by appropriate licensing agency.
Education:
- Bachelors/undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar field.
Experience:
- Minimum of four years of programming experience.
