Overview:
Big Red Button is composed of veteran game developers focused on delivering authentic gaming experiences that are as fun to watch as they are to play. We are looking to build up our team of highly skilled industry veterans for high profile and originally developed titles.
Our 25-person studio in Southern California is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Gameplay Programmer to work on a landmark, AAA console project.
BRB is looking for experienced and talented individuals to create exciting game environments for current and next-gen systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work closely with Design to create for major gameplay systems
• Focus on rapid prototyping and iteration of new gameplay mechanics and systems
• Game enthusiast willing to take ownership and drive gameplay innovations.
• Work with the team to achieve the goals set by the project director, technical director and lead designer.
• Provide constructive feedback, leadership, and mentoring to other members of the gameplay group.
Required:
• Minimum 4 years professional experience of developing gameplay systems featured in at least 1 shipped console (PS3/360/Wii/PC) title
• Capable of working independently on a gameplay system and enhancing system based upon feedback.
• Excellent 3D math skills (linear algebra, matrices, etc…)
• Excellent C++ and OOP skills.
• Play games regularly and know latest gameplay innovations.
• Collaborate well with engineers and content creators (artists, designers and animators)
• Ability to work with leads to establish tasks within a game development cell
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to take on responsibility for gameplay features and lead the cell forward toward focused results.
• Enthusiasm for the collaborative aspect of high level game development
• Experience on a game console system (Xbox 360, PS3)
Preferences:
• Ability to lead a small cell of multi-disciplinary developers
• Knowledge of next-gen animation systems
• Enthusiasm for character driven, 3rd person action games
• Knowledge of physically-based gameplay mechanics.
• Experience on mobile with touch gameplay an additional plus.
• Ability to work with custom gameplay tools for content creators
• Network gameplay experience
• Experience with Scrum / Agile / Rapid Prototyping production
