Visual Effects Artist

Goblinworks is the exciting fast-paced developer of Pathfinder Online - a fantasy sandbox MMO based on the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game from Paizo Publishing. We believe the future of online games is in player interaction, not sterile pre-scripted stories. We are starting a player-centric game company that is built to last.

We are hiring a new art position with a focus on in-game visual effects to help take our particle effects and post-process effects to a high level of polish. The primary job responsibilities will consist of creating 2d and potentially 3d source art assets and implementing the particle system effects and post process effects directly in Unity. This role will work on every aspect of the visual effects for the game, including character and combat effects, environment effects, and general camera and render effects.

Experience using Unity and working on MMO’s are both preferred. Some experience building runtime effects on actual game projects, and a full understanding of particle systems and how they work is required.

Applicants must demonstrate

  • Understanding of particle systems and post process effects as used in current generation games
  • Ability to create high quality 2d source assets for particle systems
  • Understanding of basic physics, material properties and behaviors of particles
  • Understanding of runtime engine performance concerns and optimization techniques for effects
  • A minimum of two years of prior game development experience

Ideal Candidates would have one or more

  • Prior MMO development experience
  • Prior experience with Unity 3D
  • 3d Modeling ability in 3ds Max
