Senior Software Graphics Engineer

Sony PlayStation is currently looking for a highly-talented Senior Graphics Engineer to act as an industry expert and leader in graphics development on PlayStation® platforms. This individual should be able to handle low-level graphics issues and be able to use that knowledge to collaborate with industry-leading developers. If you are driven to do hands-on graphics research on cutting-edge hardware, are well-versed in graphics engine design and architecture and are looking to use your knowledge to drive the industry and make an impact on multiple game titles, then we want to talk to you.


Principle Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provide top quality support using DevNet for private support tracker issues and public forums for existing and future PlayStation platforms
  • Mentor and train more junior engineers.
  • Identify and write any documentation required to provide licensed developers with the most current technical information for existing and future PlayStation platforms
  • Collaborate with groups outside of SCEA developer support on projects that will best benefit/assist licensed developers
  • Participate in all developer's conferences/seminars


Required Education/Experience

  • At least 5 years programming experience in C/C++
  • Understanding general graphics pipeline
  • Understanding of cross platform graphics engine architecture
  • Experience working on the low-level platform specific layer of a graphics engine
  • Experience writing HLSL, GLSL, and/or CG shader code
  • Experience using a GPU profiling tool to measure game performance, identify bottlenecks and resolve them
  • Understanding of modern day graphics algorithms (post effects, lighting systems, shadows, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of 3D math
  • Ability to effectively communicate technologies, algorithms, procedures, and process both orally and in writing
  • Keeps current on the latest trends in graphics techniques
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Experience with the following a plus:

  • Shipped at least 1 game on current generation platforms
  • Understanding of low-level graphics architecture and pipeline
  • Experience writing and optimizing low-level graphics code on the PS3 and/or PS2
  • Understanding of multi-core processors such as SPUs
  • Experience in tool development (asset pipeline, exporters, etc.)
  • Assembly-level optimizations
  • Experience giving lectures and presentations to a large audience (200 - 400 people)
