Lead Game Designer

Sunstorm Games is seeking an energetic lead game designer with current experience in the mobile platform.  You be responsioble for generating and designing new game ideas that are engaging and fun mobile games focused on a late-teen and younger demographic, as well as introducing new features into our existing games to keep our players engaged.  This opportunity involves close collaboration with our engineering, creative, and marketing teams so excellent communication and leadership is a must. You'll come up with the mechanics and gameplay that will take our mobile game experiences to the next level, and nurture the idea from concept to final implementation.  You should have experience playing and designing games of all genres, be passionate about social and mobile games, and be able to generate ideas and develop game mechanics bested suited to mobile devices and a younger audience. 


  • Work closely with Chief Product Officer/ Director of Game Development/ and CEO to concieve of new games and improve existing games
  • Contribute designs for game features, game ideas, and creative content (items, game text)
  • Work closely with Art Director and Lead Engineers on look/feel/features 
  • Perform competitive research and provide reports and thoughtful analysis
  • Play and review products under development


  • You LOVE to play casual and mobile games 
  • Previously worked as a Designer or Producer for at least one launched mobile or social game 
  • Exposure to 'tween' focused genre of games an important plus
  • Understanding of what makes games fun and the current mobile gaming marketplace
  • Excellent sense of game pacing and play balance in freemium games
  • Proven leadership skills; leading a team of designers and/or multiple teams
  • Ability to analyze gameplay mechanics and feature designs
  • Experience and interest with player-driven economies
  • Able to design game systems, individual gameplay features & player progressions
  • Understanding of game balance, including statistics, virtual goods, economics and user motivations
  • Understanding of interaction design concepts and principles
  • Able to excel in an agile team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written communication
  • Ability to adapt to changes during the entire production cycle
  • You like to have fun and work hard. You understand these can be the same thing.
