Lead Game Designer

You are first and foremost a leader who excel in making people around you grow and can shift between different managerial styles depending on the situation, and the person you are communicating with. Your primary task will be functioning as personnel manager for our Game Designers across all our projects – not only as part of the quarterly appraisals but also on a daily basis. You will also be responsible for reviewing all our externally produced games making sure that they meet quality standards and that the designs are consistent across all products. You will be the point-of-contact for our external partners so it is important that you are confident in giving feedback both verbally and in writing while keeping all stakeholders (Marketing, Support etc). in the loop. Reporting to the Production Director, you work together with the cross-discipline Team Leads in reaching the best processes and solutions for the game designers as well as for the entire company.


About the job

MovieStarPlanet is a social game for tweens aged 8-15 years. The game has grown into one of the world´s most successful social games for tweens and is still experiencing explosive growth. We are also expanding into new areas as we grow, as well as preparing our next product launches.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead the company’s Game Designers across projects and mentor and supervise them on a daily basis
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals and salary negotiations with all Game Designers in the company
  • Make sure that the design being produced on the various teams meet quality targets as set by the Creative Director
  • Work with our Creative Director in creating efficient workflows and pipelines for all technology production
  • Create outsourcing briefs for external partners and review games being produced externally
  • Work with game designers in creating game design solutions that facilitates our design processes and easy implementation
  • Work with Production Director, Creative Director and Team Leads in creating concepts for new products and provide estimates for the expected game design work.


About you

You are dedicated to your work, a natural leader in your own way and take pride in doing a great job. In addition you:

  • Have a Managerial/Lead background and is familiar with management in theory and practice
  • 5+ years of experience working professionally as a game designer, preferably working with games in the online space
  • A passion for games, especially social and casual games, and the game development process
  • A strong understanding of core social game mechanics, and game design in general
  • Great communication skills – written and verbally – to communicate your vision clearly
  • Ability to analyze designs from an entertainment, usability and economic perspective
  • Experience with game or software productions, including the ability to maintain a project overview and continuously coordinate with your team
  • Knowledge and experience with game design documentation, including visualization tools such as Photoshop
  • Experience with directing external teams as well as reviewing games produced externally
  • Have an interest in working with products aimed at kids, tweens and teens
  • Have a strong ability to succeed through others!
