Lead Engineer

Glu Mobile is looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Washington studio! This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for an insanely motivated and fanatically disciplined individual to make their mark working with some of the most talented developers in the mobile game industry.   • Be a ridiculously amazing team member
  • Ultimate accountability for the success of a team of 3-6 engineers
  • Maintain quality of execution for every line of code from whiteboard to release
  • Communicate closely with production, art, design, and QA in coordinating engineering efforts
  • Demonstrate a pragmatic approach to engineering scope and consistent bias to action
  • Drive planning and design discipline around all aspects of software development
  • Stay on top of team code reviews, documentation, and technical debt
  • Own responsibility for all technical deliverables, from individual stories to milestone epics
  • Handle reporting of engineering progress, both across the team and upward to stakeholders
  • Help drive continual improvements to our engineering standards, practices, and tools
  • Juggle constant randomization while maintaining a clear focus on your team’s priorities
  • Keep every team member from every discipline unblocked
  • Ensure the health, happiness, and general well-being of your teammates

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • At least five years of professional experience as a game software engineer
  • At least two years of professional experience leading engineering teams
  • Highly proficient in any curly-brace language
  • Broad understanding of major game systems – graphics, client/server, physics, etc.
  • Demonstrably strong practical knowledge of traditional computer science principles
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • A healthy capacity to take direction and accept criticism
  • A healthy capacity to set direction and provide criticism


Bonus Points For:

  • Having successfully developed and shipped mobile free-to-play titles
  • Experience shipping games using the Unity engine
  • Significant experience with C#/.NET
  • Significant experience with Java EE engineering practices and frameworks
  • Experience overseeing development across multiple parallel codelines
  • Experience configuring and using Perforce, TeamCity, Crucible, and JIRA
  • A passion for gaming in general and mobile games in particular
