What We Need: Game Designer, Lead
Importance of Role: The Game Designer will take the helm on specific learning game projects, serving as both Lead Designer and Client Advocate.
What’s Expected: You’ll draft and present game design documentation, write and edit narrative content, and work with developers on data integration. During game production you’ll validate new features, provide feedback, and work with clients and internal stakeholders to clarify their goals and expectations.
Reports to: Director of Technology
The Basic Role Nuts & Bolts
■ Collaborate with Game Producers and other Game Designers to streamline general game designs, rules systems, game balance, UX design, and mission story details.
■ Design game character actions/mechanics
■ Design specifications for key game events
■ Work with artists and programmers to create asset list for models, sounds, and animations for game design implementation.
■ Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel
■ Good communication, organization, and time management skills
■ Must be a team-player
■ Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
■ Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
■ Degree in interactive game design or equivalent experience
■ 4+ years of recent experience as a lead game designer or senior game play designer in creative leads on AAA action games
■ Ability to come up with innovative ideas and demonstrate them with comprehensive visual materials and references
■ Advanced skills in organizing and formulating complex game mechanics and systems.
■ Advanced skills in analyzing game system management and surrounded game design issues.
■ Full production life cycle experience from initial concept through release for at least 2 titles
■ Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
■ Indie game design experience
■ Passion for learning and for designing learning experiences
■ Comfortable with scripting languages
■ Experience with XML a plus
■ Experience with usability testing
■ Passion for games
