The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Game Design and Development to begin August 2014.
Located in the College of Arts and Science, the Bachelor of Arts in Game Design and Development is a pre-professional Program within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts.

As a member of a team building a new program that emphasizes serious, meaningful analog and digital games, the ideal candidate is able to teach introductory, intermediate and advanced classes for the game design track or the game art track or both. In addition applicants may be assigned to teach sections of the Game Lab which oversees game project development.
In addition to teaching and course development full time faculty responsibilities include service to the university and the community as well as the pursuit of scholarship and research in the field. Candidates should be open to writing grants, preparing conference presentations and developing games in collaboration with colleagues within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, the College of Arts and Sciences as well as with faculty from across the University in the Schools of Business, Communications, Law, Health Sciences, and Medicine.
In addition to the primary responsibilities of contributing to the game design program, candidates may be called upon to teach in the university's core seminar series on "The Individual in the Community," "Our National Community," and "The Global Community."
Qualified applicants must have an MFA or terminal degree in a related field. Experience in industry or a background in analog and digital game creation, board game design, scripting/programming, physical computing, 2D and 3D computer graphics and animation is preferred. Previous teaching experience at the college level is required.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to collegiality and will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
