Disney Publishing is looking for a talented Research Engineer to join our Glendale, California studio. We are not sharing too much information about our plans at the moment, but if you might be the right person, we’ll let you in on the secret.

As the Future Technology Research Engineer, you will be investigating and evaluating tools and technology that may be integrated into our products in the future.

Responsibilities:

You will investigate new, future technologies that may be of interest to our core products. You will collaborate with other leads on the future technology requirements, assist with the integration of new technologies into the development platform and present research to various stakeholders to explain the impact and usage options for future technologies.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years in relevant professional experience, preferably with some game and/or mobile development.
  • Computer science or other degree relevant to game development, or equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of iOS, OSX, OpenGL, 2D and 3D math, physics and optimization techniques.
  • Highly proficient in C++ and strong skills in other languages such as C# or Objective-C.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Hands-on experience with middleware, such as Unity, Cocos2D/3D, Box2D, Bullet etc.
  • Great communication and public speaking skills.
  • A positive attitude with a passion to change the world with our products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of game development tools and technologies.
  • Experience tinkering with Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits, basic electronics etc.
  • Cross-platform development experience (especially iOS/Android/OSX)
  • Experience supporting product development teams, understanding their usage requirements
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Lua etc.)
