Documentation Engineer

Role purpose

To create documentation systems and write documentation for processes, workflows and code APIs. Act as point of contact for all training resources for a global shared technology group.

Work with artists, designers and programmers to determine existing problems with documentation, workflows and tools.

 

Problem solve

Determine effective solutions to existing problems. Design improvements to inefficient workflows.

Develop

Improve existing- or develop new- documentation tools and workflows

Create test data

Work with artists and designers  to provide art assets and data to assist with the development and testing of new tools, workflows and to help troubleshoot existing problems.

 

Document

Write and assist creation of new- or amend existing- documentation pertaining to artist, designer and programmer tools, processes and APIs.

 

 Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical writing and document preparation or its equivalent
  • Expert in at least two of: MadCap Flare, Alchemy, Sandcastle, Doxygen or equivalents
  • Expert experience with each of: Wiki systems, Knowledge Bases, Forums (e.g. MediaWiki, Sharepoint, SourceForge)
  • Experience with Visual Studio and familiarity with Eclipse or Netbeans
  • Coding/Scripting background
    • Good working knowledge of: HTML, CSS & XML
    • Some experience with: Python, Windows Batch or Linux Shell
    • Ideally have experience with: Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Perl, PHP
  • Must have worked as part of large team in a multi-team studio environment
