As we prepare to launch our apprenticeship program, we are looking for a talented artist who is inspired by educating the next generation to fill the role of Art Trainer. Our ideal instructor is an experienced production artist who has also had the opportunity to teach professionally. The trainer will have cross-disciplinary experience with a focus in character modeling and texture painting. Is that you?
The art trainer will be responsible for designing the inaugural curriculum of our new apprenticeship program, is a key member of the program’s launch team, and key driver of its success. They will support and grow the program on an ongoing basis for future sessions. They will work closely with leadership and production artists across teams at Blizzard to develop content and deliver training to meet our production needs. Subjects will include proprietary tools, workflows and processes, as well as specific instruction in the art styles of our games.
Work closely with studio artists to develop discipline-specific courses and supporting materials.
Teach a variety of digital production tools, including 3ds Max, Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop, as well as proprietary software applications.
Develop a staged curriculum which can accommodate artists across a broad skill level.
Create and maintain course documentation and assignments; track and evaluate individual progress.
Act as a mentor, guiding the apprentices as they adapt to a demanding production environment.
A minimum of 5 years’ production artist experience in games, animation and / or film
Studio training or college-level teaching experience
Strong interest in art, design, and production pipelines, as well as the professional education process
Proven ability to create effective training materials for highly technical subject matter
Expert knowledge of 3D tools such as 3ds Max, Maya and ZBrush
Expert knowledge of Photoshop
Able to efficiently develop course material in correlation with ever-changing production needs
Outstanding organization and communication skills
Bachelor's degree in computer graphics, animation, art, film, education or equivalent work experience
Link to production portfolio required; modeling and texture painting examples preferred
Link to teaching materials, syllabi, tutorials or demonstration videos preferred
