Assistant Professor – College of Technology (FT)
Effective February 1, 2014: (FT) Assistant Professor – College of Technology, Academic Affairs – Wilmington University, New Castle.
Requirements: The incumbent must have a Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in graphic/game design and visual communication. It is preferred that the incumbent have at least three years of academic experience. Must have excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with a diverse population. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Should be computer literate and have a working knowledge in CAMS, Blackboard and Microsoft Office products. The incumbent must be Hybrid Online Training (HOT) certified within the first year. Incumbent should also have a working knowledge of Cinema 4D or Maya, Adobe Suite, NUKE (or similar Node-based compositor). Must have experience working with Apple/Mac hardware/devices. Must be proficient with visual effects pipelines and workflows. A working knowledge of Unity is preferred. Must be committed to a team-building approach as well as maintaining an effective working relationship with all staff. Must have a working knowledge of outcomes assessment as related to the program level. Must have a working knowledge of course scheduling and University adjunct faculty policy. Must have a working knowledge of successfully handling student issues and/or complaints with University policy. Must be able to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Serve as a full-time faculty member to teach and provide appropriate support for the Video and Motion Graphics, Game Design and Media Design Programs. Provide instruction in common core courses across the programs. Assist Program Chairs with program support (information sessions, special events, and program needs). Teach 10 courses per year. This load may be adjusted as necessary (i.e. additional college responsibilities may reduce the teaching load). Advise and assist students as necessary and handle student issues or complaints in accordance with University policy. Attend College and University functions (staff meetings, Faculty Senate) as required. Complete and report on outcomes assessment data and other collect reports as assigned. Provide orientation (college level) to new or prospective students. Assist with the training and mentoring of new adjunct faculty as necessary. Assist with tracking the changing software needs for the specialized programs and facilitate workshops for students within the Game Design and Video and Motion Graphics Programs. Additionally, curriculum updates and changes concerning the specialized areas of general 3D, Character Design, Rigging, Animation, Compositing, Match-moving, and Roto-Scoping will also fall under this position. Other duties may be assigned by the Dean and/or the AVP.
Hours of Employment: The incumbent must maintain a flexible work schedule designed around courses taught and required events/meetings. Travel to our sites and for professional development may be required.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
