Art Director

PerBlue is looking for a talented Art Director to join our team. We make mobile games for iOS and Android played by millions of people all around the world. We’re looking for an experienced leader to guide the artistic vision for our new products and manage our art production pipeline.

We’re an independent studio based in Madison, WI with a team of 25 amazingly talented people. We've been named a Top 10 Game Developer to Watch by PocketGamer, one of the Top 100 Startups in the US by Empact, and Madison's Favorite Tech Startup by the Isthmus.

Responsibilities

You’ll set the artistic style and vision for our games including the theme, characters, environment, and brand. You'll be responsible for maintaining this vision and ensuring consistency and high quality throughout the process.

You’ll lead, manage, and mentor our in-house team of 2D artists, 3D artists, and UI designers. You'll be responsible for effectively managing the full art production pipeline, as well as working with external contractors. You'll also facilitate opportunities for our art team to constantly grow, learn, and improve professionally.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Prior leadership experience of a creative team required.
  • Prior experience at a game studio required.
  • Prior Art or Creative Director experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of 3D art asset production pipelines and software tools.
  • Strong understanding of technical constraints and challenges in the art pipeline.

Desired Skills

  • Ability to effectively provide constructive feedback (both verbal and written) to drive the creative process and deliver superb results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with producers and management.
  • High attention to detail and results focus.
  • Proactive and able to take ownership of processes and projects.
  • Ability to relate and require in order to perform management duties.
