ZeniMax Online Studios is searching for an Animation Programmer for The Elder Scrolls Online.


  • Grow and maintain client animation system and tools
  • Interface with animation and design teams to author solutions that meet project goals
  • Innovate and improve animation tools, pipeline, and technology
  • Develop and support the connections between the animation, AI and physics systems
  • Work with others to create our next generation animation system that includes motion-capture, facial animation, parameterized motion, and procedural animation tools and technologies
  • Develop tools and assist in their use by project animation programmers and content creators
  • Maintain and extend the development of our current character/creature animation system
  • Work closely with game project teams to assist in integrating animation technology into games, identifying extensions to that technology, and creating those improvements


  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related/equivalent technical discipline
  • 4+ years game industry experience
  • Mid-to-expert level knowledge of real-time animation systems
  • Experience with one or more real-time animation middleware (Havok Animation, Granny, HumanIK, Morpheme, etc) or equivalent custom/in-house solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of C++ and OOP
  • Experience developing or working with animation blend graphs, real-time IK, animation compression, and/or advanced animation memory management (streaming)
  • Comfort developing across multiple platforms (OSX, Windows, PS4, Xbox One)
  • Enjoys working daily with animators and technical artists to help craft solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent math skills
  • Superb written, verbal, and communication skills


  • Knowledge of advanced animation technologies such as physics-based animation and procedural animation
  • Understanding of game development workflows
  • Familiarity with design patterns and software architecture
  • Current and/or next generation console experience
  • Experience with version control systems (CVS, SourceSafe, Perforce, etc.)
  • Admiration for video games and appreciation for the intelligence, passion, and creativity that goes into this work of art
