Dungeon Texture Artist
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled texture / concept artist to work on award winning World of Warcraft. The ideal candidate is experienced in creating highly crafted, hand painted and high resolution tile based texture sets. The texture artist should be an expert in digital painting and have a solid grasp of concept development. Some experience with a 3D software package is required.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience creating hand painted tile sets for either an AAA title, or high-end indie title
Able to create original concept artwork that explores a wide variety of ideas
Able to collaborate closely with a 3D level artist and create a consistent vision
A thorough understanding of 2D paint packages
Good understanding of traditional art mythology including light, form, composition and color theory
Junior to mid candidates need a basic understanding of 3D software including UV unwrapping and basic modeling
Senior candidates need to have a solid understanding of a 3D software package such as Max
Senior candidates need to be able to work independently with little overhead
Senior candidates need to act as a role model for more mid and associate level artists
Only digital applications will be accepted such as a website, blog or online album. Physical media will not be accepted
An art test might be required if the work presented doesn’t adequately demonstrate a similar style to Wow.
A good understanding of 3D Studio Max or Maya
A degree or formal art education in illustration, traditional painting or industrial design
Understanding of the visual style of World of Warcraft and a passion to push it to the next level
